Falling for Fuchsia
36" Tall x 48" Wide, Acrylic on Canvas
Falling for Fuchsia launches a shift in my work to focus on a new muse, architecture. Over the last few years I have started to incorporate dwellings into my work while keeping the low poly geometric style that I have started to become recognized for. As a Canadian artist, I grew up surrounded by natural beauty and jewel toned mountains which inspired the artwork that I created for 10 years. 5 years ago I moved to Los Angeles and while my environment changed my influence started to shift as well. I am now drawn to the warm sunlight that makes the landscape glow, the timeless architecture that embellishes the hills and the incredible flora that can only thrive in California. My hard edge and calculated style has been replaced with a free and more playful technique that helps bring a feminine quality and colorful take on minimal and mid century architecture.
This painting celebrates the iconic house that birthed my love for architecture, Frank Lloys Wrights' Falling Water. I am so excited for this next chapter of artwork and the places (and hopefully homes) that it takes me and my paintings to!
